a good day...

Ok, it's official--Max is in the 7th week, 4th day of development according to the ultrasound and the nurse. Today was the first official prenatal visit and we're spending time going over the pink and blue manual that the OB/GYN office gave us. I was nervous, sick, dizzy--and I'm not pregnant. I was so afraid that they'd find a problem.

Then I saw a little miracle... a tiny, rapidly beating heart, a string-thin little white spine and a little tail. Max is about 14mm long--head to tail, about the the size of an average adult thumbnail--and the tiny heart was beating at about 150 beats per minute--amazing... This little guy's running a marathon in there... phew...

Needless to say, I was relieved when the nurse-midwife told us that Max is doing fine and so far--on schedule.

I played classical music for it on the way home and then realized that I should have been playing something like Barry White or Miles Davis. We'll have time to work on this--classical kid or cool kid... I just need to remember not to worry my wife--she's doing fine--I'm a mess...
