Surprise Baby showerI know it's a weird title but that's what's going on.
Amy received a surprise baby shower on Saturday and was especially surprised because her mom, Carol and aunt Lois visited us from Wrightstown, WI--Amy's hometown. Amy had no idea that her mom was going to visit her so it was a lot of fun to watch. I only stayed around to see the tears of joy, have some punch and lumpia and then I left to finish cleaning the house so that my mother-in-law wouldn't be so shocked--naw... just kidding, we've actually been working on keeping the house baby-safe for months now. The gifts from this shower were all wonderful, we're so grateful for everyone's kindness and generosity.
Contractions
We were hoping that Max would make it out in time to meet grandma Carol and aunt Lois before they returned to
WI but it was not to be. Amy's having contractions now more regular than before. And of course, her nausea has returned much like mine was two weeks ago. Again, I pre-empt Amy's pregnancy symptoms by two to three weeks. So about two weeks ago, I told Amy that she'd probably start feeling contractions and nausea now--and she is, right on schedule. It's really weird how I'm able to feel some of Amy's pregnancy symptoms, especially the nausea involved. She started feeling contractions about 6:00pm, Monday the 13th of August. They've ranged from an hour to about 20 minutes apart. They're sporadic but more regular than Braxton-Hicks. I rushed out to make sure that the car seat and Amy's bag was neatly packed and that I had all the phone numbers. If they're false labor pains, then it's a really good drill.
Hopefully, the next blog entry will be an announcement.
