It was an evening like any other evening at home. I was playing with my computer and Amy was hurriedly walking about the house. I didn't pay attention to what she was doing because she usually moved about the house as though she had a million things to do. It used to drive me crazy but I'm used to it now.
At about 9:00pm, Amy walked in to the bedroom sporting a guilty grin. Her arms were behind her because she was holding something. She plopped herself next to me on our bed and told me that she had an early Christmas present for me.
With those words she handed me a plastic blue and cream colored pen shaped device. I had no idea what it was. She and I are both gadget geeks and there are countless electronic gadgets that are shaped like that so that's what I thought it was.
I took the device, smiled at her and examined it. I asked her what it was. I was about to remove a blue cap at the tip of the device when she stopped me. Amy urged me to look at the device's little LCD window that I didn't notice the first time. I examined it closer and noticed the words--Pregnant--displayed on the screen.
I was both stunned and in shock, I wasn't sure what to make of it. Amy looked worried and commented, "this wasn't the reaction I expected--is this ok?"
"uhh, yea Amy this is--I don't know... this is unreal--is this a joke?"
Amy asked me again,
"Are you ok? No! it's not a joke--I'm pregnant..."
I continued,
"yea, I'm fine... it's just that I thought I was shooting blanks."
Amy chuckled and said,
"no, you're not--are you sure this is ok?"
"My God Amy, of course it's ok--it's miraculous--so surreal"
I guess this cancels my plans for that new Jeep I was thinking about.

I still think you should name it Royetta! Just think of the future possibilities
