Alex has been very busy over the past week, which is why he hasn't updated the site. Max is a dancing fool...his favorite times to boogie down are right after I've eaten my lunch (which is what he's doing right now), and right after my bath, when I'm ready to go to sleep.
At my last appointment about three weeks ago, the nurse-midwife asked me to "count kicks". She made it sound like it could be a long process (up to two hours is still OK) to get to the magic number ten. Well, Sir Max has never taken more than ten minutes to kick (or jab) me ten times, and today he finished in less than one minute!!
Cristina did, in fact, give us a lovely color-changing nite-lite. Jojo and Sami were quite impressed. In fact, it's living in their room until Max makes his grand entrance.
So, Max has been stewing for about 31 weeks, and we've made it to the point where the doctor visits get closer together. This is cool, because it makes the time that I'm monster-sized seem to go by more quickly. By the end of July I'll have had 3 more appointments, and we'll have the green-light to use any of the Kaiser approved hospitals to deliver at. This is a big relief because, until then, if I go into labor while I'm at the house, we have to drive all the way to San Diego. As of August 1, though, I'll be allowed to deliver the hospital in Escondido too.
Yikes. I got a little distracted between the beginning of this post and the end...I hope it makes sense. Have a good afternoon!!

I hope you have the baby at Palomar because Crissy and I were both born there. I hear that they might turn the hospital into a museum because of me, JK!!
Dancing fool – like Happy Feet! LOL
Alex has been describing all kinds of pregnancy pains; sounds only fair that Dad carries the discomfort while Mom carries the weight. Well Amy hope this is true during labor as well, you will have to let us know.
This is getting really exciting! I wait to see Max! He's gonna turn out to be the cutest Muñeco Ever!!
Deliver the baby at any hospital convenient to you Amy. Just as long as the baby is born healthy!! That is most important.
I really do hope Alex doesn't get distracted in the labor room with the machines. Give him a good "waacckk" on the forehead! yeah!
Muñeco = Doll (Spanish)
yes, prego pains. I'm not sure how much of these prego pains I can blame on Max or just staying up too late getting the house ready for Maxification. But regardless, this child has ushered the most amazing changes in me spiritually and emotionally. The changes have been indescribable but mostly surreal and reverend. How could a baby impact someone in this way? Whatever it is, I can only explain why I feel these pains as my body's way of resisting and fighting the change that I must go through to be this child's father. Obviously, the kind of personality that I had was insufficient to raise this child. But now I'm ready.
Whether you're ready or not. Here he comes!! putting your situation in my shoes Alex, I can understand your stress and getting the house ready. I'm only assuming that this whole process is very overwhelming. But Just think, You're not the one that's going to go into labor unless your body will allow you to feel that too. which.. I'm not sure how to visualize that... Nevermind. I strongly think you'll do just fine. Don't about a thing Alexander. Amy's side of the family, your side of the family and the entire family has got your back. Just.. relax. You'll do just fine ;)
